James 2:26 (KJV) For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Faith that does not produce good works, that does not have good works inherent in it, is like a corpse. It is lifeless, inactive, and will soon begin to stink. Is our faith active? Is it producing fruit for God? If not, let us shudder and tremble as demons do, and let us repent and turn to God with all our hearts.
There is such a thing as a “dead faith, ” a faith that “remains alone” and does nothing. If we believe in Jesus in the sense of accepting as true various facts about Him but do not have a true change of attitude toward God, self, sin, and holiness, we are not exercising saving faith. A living faith cannot fail to act itself out in our lives, affecting what we think and say and do.
