FREE AT LAST

Psalms 116:15-16 (KJV) Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.
O LORD, truly I am thy servant; I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.

God lovingly watches over the death of His people. He delights to have them released at last from the trials, pains, and troubles of this life. He gathers them to His bosom. Their death is precious to Him. What is precious in God’s sight should not be despised in ours. Let us imitate the apostle Paul in this.

Philippians 1:21-24 (KJV) For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

How great the gospel of Christ that makes the death of believers precious to God and a gain to themselves!

The Lord values our lives and suffers along with us when we come to death’s door. He calms our spirits and prepares our hearts. He does not delight in our anguish and sits patiently in our presence, providing peace and comfort as He receives our souls. We must remember that our lives are precious to our Creator. Our physical decline saddens Him even though a peaceful eternal life is in our future.
