DIVORCE

1 Corinthians 7:10 (KJV) And unto the married I command, yet not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from her husband:

What he has said before was not a command (v 6). Believers are free either to marry or not to marry. But having married they are not free to divorce each other. So he gives a command based on the teaching of Christ Himself. Marriage between believers is a binding relationship as long as husband and wife live.

Matthew 5:32 (KJV) But I say unto you, That whosoever shall put away his wife, saving for the cause of fornication, causeth her to commit adultery: and whosoever shall marry her that is divorced committeth adultery.

Luke 16:18 (KJV) Whosoever putteth away his wife, and marrieth another, committeth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her that is put away from her husband committeth adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:11 (KJV) But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to her husband: and let not the husband put away his wife.

“But if”– there may be cases when one of the partners finds the marriage intolerable and leaves. Such a person must not marry again as long as the other partner is still alive.

Matthew 19:7-8 (KJV) They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?
He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

The Pharisees were trying to show that Jesus disagreed with the law of Moses and so condemn Him. But they misinterpreted Moses.Because their hearts were hard they did not want God’s best, and they were permitted to behave in ways less than the best. Note they said Moses commanded them not God. Sometimes God gives men their desire when they insist on it, even though it is not good for them. This is because of free will, something God cannot take from us. We either choose to serve God or not. We either believe in God or not. We either follow his teaching or not. God gave you the opportunity to choose please choose correctly.
